Dear Gilda’s Club Community,
As our region loosens restrictions and much is being discussed about back-to-school time in the fall, we wanted to give you an update on our Virtual Clubhouse plans. Earlier this summer we surveyed stakeholders in our support community including members and volunteers. The survey showed that they, like us, are anxious to return to in-person programming, and fully committed to waiting until it is safe to do so.
We know health is precious. Gilda’s Club is steadfast in our intent to preserve wellness by doing our part in mitigating the ongoing risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19. We are closely monitoring the cases and statistics in West Michigan as well as CDC and local health department recommendations. With all of this in mind, we have decided to continue with virtual-only programming through September and until we see a sustained decline in COVID-19 cases.
Know it is likely that the reopening of Gilda’s Grand Rapids and Lowell clubhouses will lag behind other businesses and organizations in our area as we monitor how reopening impacts COVID cases. The following is the likely, gradual reopen progression plan. We’ll share more about the mitigation strategies Gilda’s Club will practice as we get closer to the next stage of welcoming back members.
Gilda’s Club is looking forward to eventually welcoming you back to the clubhouse safely!
While we may not be able to see each other in person yet, we hope you will consider joining us for one of our many, free virtual programs. We have over 100 each month including weekly broadcasts on Facebook Live talking about important topics ranging from managing stress and living with loss during COVID to family workshops where we read a book together, do an activity and have some conversation starters around themes each week.
